Dear Parents and Carers,
I am so pleased to hear that you have been offered a place at our fantastic school for September 2020 one which I am very proud to be headteacher of. Many of you came to visit our school and I am delighted to be welcoming you and your child/ren back.
Transition to primary school is an exciting time but for some it can be daunting, which is why we always go to great lengths to ensure we have good communication with the setting children are coming from and that parents and children have lots of opportunities to become familiar with their new school before the start of the summer holiday.
These last few weeks have been immensely challenging for us all and we are all working in ways that, a mere few weeks ago, we would have never thought possible. However, despite these challenges, the Highbury community has remained strong.
Some days will be harder than others and nobody could disagree. However, our school values and our motto, ‘Valued as individuals, inspired and nurtured as learners,’ sums up our community. In times such as these that we are currently experiencing, our values will help us to remember that we are all in this together. We aim to be resilient, respectful, confident, kind, inclusive and aspirational every day.
As I often say to the staff and children at our school, ‘BE YOUR BEST’. It may take time, but we will help to make it work for all.
Currently, there is no official guidance on what will be the next steps for school and your children who will be joining us next academic year. However, what we do know, is that we will keep you informed regularly as we have been doing so for our existing Highbury families.
I would just like to reassure you in these difficult times, that we are busy planning how transition for your child will take place under the current conditions and we will be in touch with details about this soon. In the meantime, if you are at all anxious or concerned about the transition, please do not hesitate to contact us.
