The council is reviewing the way children’s centres currently work with a view to reducing the number of buildings that are running. The council is proposing to create six new hubs located in existing children’s centre buildings. The new centres would provide support for families with children of all ages rather than focusing on birth to five.
The council needs to save £11m over the next year and they say that this move will mean avoiding cuts to the teams that provide support.
Highbury Community Centre is one of the buildings that has been identified as a potential hub.
