Welcome to Oak Class
In Oak class we have 2 teachers, they are Mrs Killick and Mrs James. Mrs Killick teaches us on a Monday and Tuesday and Mrs James on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
We are a mixed class of year 5 and year 6 children.
During the Autumn term we have been learning all about WW2 - 'Down in the Bunkers!' We have produced fact books, powerpoint presentations, a wordle, biographies, created gas masks and written our own evacuation stories! Our teachers arranged our own evacuation experience to help us understand what it felt like to suddenly leave our loved ones. We even had to pack a suitcase with three special items we would want to take with us. We recorded our feelings of this experience.
Now it is the Spring term! Our theme is 'The Amazing Amazon.' Already we have been on a trip to the Living Rainforest in Newbury, created persuassive leaflets, written recounts of our day, written discussion texts on topical issues such as, Should Rainforests be destroyed? Should animals be used in Circuses? etc. We have also been enjoying our writing afternoons where we have collaboratively created stories from a given book title and letters from the author.
